Order as control, care as performance.
Sanctions, borders, diplomacy - too polished to trust. Yet the right ones remain untouched. The whip is real. The sweet bread, staged. The work stages this split:
The whip sits above glass that isn't half full or empty- it's shattered. In each shard, traces of lived experience - sanctions, constraints, quiet ruptures- evidence of how power leaves its mark, like objects pressing into light-sensitive paper. The sweet bread appears elsewhere, distant in a separate frame - untouched, preserved in the fiction it was always meant to be.Mauris leo erat, placerat quis semper eu, pulvinar in est. Кнут и пряник- whip and sweet bread- carrot and stick. The script is tired: comply and be rewarded, resist and be punished. But the reward rarely comes, and when it does, is it still sweet?
This isn’t confined to one place. Order as control, care as performance. Sanctions, borders, diplomacy- too polished to trust. yet the “right” ones remain untouched.
